On my recent trip to Maui I was blessed to see these creatures of the sea–the sea turtle. Sometimes I’d spy one alone napping on an empty beach.
Sometimes I would spy a few rollicking in the waves, their heads poking above the waters for a mere second before disappearing again into the ocean.
Sometimes I would spy one bathing on the rocks of an ocean cove.
And other times I would see many huddled and resting together on rocks warmed by the tropical sun.
Whether napping as one on the empty beach, or riding with others in the waves, or huddling with many sunbathing in the coves, they seem to follow the natural order of things, I begin to see.
Rest alone, ride the waves, be with friends, let the ocean wash you up into a protected cove, let nature heal and the sun recharge you so ready to head back out into new waters, when the ocean washes over you again.
No struggle, even when tossed by the waves, and a deep knowing that the water will eventually calm and send you to the rest you need before the next adventure.
Yes, I think I can learn a lot from these sea creatures and even begin to see….
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. Ecclesiastes 3:1
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint Isaiah 40:31
My blessing to you today, my friend:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Love,
Lynn

I am obsessed with sea turtles! They are one of the ways God reminds me that He is always with me.

Hi Lynn! Welcome back my friend! Your reflections on the sea turtle are really joyful and restful all at the same time. Trusting that God will lead in all phases of my life is reflected in nature everywhere, and certainly in these beautifully photographed creatures. Isn’t it amazing how God teaches through such everyday things? And you were there, open to his message. That’s really beautiful.
Hoping that I will be willing to be tossed by the waves, trusting I will land in a protective cove,
Ceil

Oh Lynn, thank you for the heart smiles! I love your photos of the sea turtles and the ocean. I had to look harder on the one photo as they blend in so well with the rocks. 🙂 I love the lesson you learned from them, too. We can learn so much from God’s creatures, can’t we? Love and hugs to you!

Oh, Lynn, I LOVE these pictures! And your reminder that everything happens in its season. Learning to live with that mindset is so much easier spoken than lived out. But it’s still true. When we ride the waves of life with God, we can rest in His presence and His leading, whether it’s to a secluded beach, hanging out with friends, or adventuring out on life’s waves.
It sounds like your time on Maui was refreshing!

Hi Lynn – Beautiful pictures! I’m glad you enjoy Maui and all the sights.
Before having turtles as pets was banned, I had two named Siegfried and Gottfried. (I have no recollection of how I chose those names. LOL!) Another friend had a larger turtle, which lived a long time. It’s nice to see these creatures in their natural habitat. Thanks for sharing.
