Simplifying the Steps

I am borderline obsessive when it comes to learning new ways to make goals, get clarity, open up your dreams, and other such life desires. As a professional life coach helping women who are struggling with creating the life they envision for themselves, it’s important that I keep learning so can be creative too, in helping leading others to their next steps.

But, with notebooks filled with scribbles of a multitude of methods and each method having it’s five or so steps, and then the many ads that come up on my social media feeds for learning how to live your best year yet, it gets overwhelming.

Which is the right way? They all are good and really have the same message, just said in a different way which is important so they reach the people they need to reach.

Yet can seem so complicated!

This week our church has Solemn Assembly, a guided prayer service each evening. As I closed my eyes in prayer and asked God the question I wonder if He may just be tired of me asking,- “Where should I be spending my time and efforts?” a repeated word of our scripture passage that particular evening flashed across my mind.

Earnestly seek My treasure and you gain wisdom.

Be persistent in the pursuit of My treasure, and I will give you common sense, guard your path and protect you.

It’s that simple.

One step.

Start by seeking His treasure, His wisdom.

And I will find the right way to go.

He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the path of the just and protects those who are faithful to Him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Proverbs 2: 6-10

I am linked up with Five Minute Friday today where a topic is chosen and you have 5 minutes to write your words. You can check out how to be involved and read others musings on our prompt Simplify this week at Five Minute Friday

  1. I love this! Yes, life can be so complicated at times and it can be hard to find the right way forward, but if we’re seeking God he will give us the wisdom we need. It’s reassuring that it doesn’t need to depend on our wisdom but on his. Visiting from Five Minute Friday.

  3. Well hello there, Lynn!! You don’t know me but I’ve been on your website MANY times in the last few months. My name is Nichole (my post is at #13 this week) and I just graduated from CCI last month. I’m doing my practicum and working on my website right now! I always looked your coaching pages and not your blog so I didn’t know you blogged on FMF too! When I saw your pic on the linkup I knew exactly who you were. Such a small world!

I loved your thoughts here—it is truly that simple! Seek the treasure found in Him and His wisdom. So beautiful and so true. Glad I found you on the linkup this week!

    1. Hi Nichole! Congratulations on the CCI graduation! I look forward to reading more of your thoughts too. And seeing your new website. I had this place before my site and just in the midst of changing my website so I can easily edit it, including attaching a blog. I’ve been blogging for years here, and love the community. So glad to meet you!

  5. Lynn, treasure. I hadn’t considered this word in the context God gave it to you, but it so resonates. When we seek His treasure we receive His wisdom. Seek first the kingdom of God . . . That’s truly the best way to begin a new year. Thanks for this great reminder, my friend.

  6. Hi Lynn! God’s words to you reminds me of the Song, ‘Seek ye First”. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. Then all these things will be added unto you…”
You seek his treasures, and that is the best thing to do! Not only that, but you’ll gain wisdom about what his treasures truly are.

  7. Hi Lynn,
Oh I can relate about making simple things more complicated! I’m intrigued by your church’s guided prayer services — what an amazing idea and experience that must be to be contemplative and open your heart to God during that time. Seeking God, his treasure and wisdom are beautiful thoughts to consider and yes, you’re right, they are the simple next steps to take, without making it too complicated! xoxo

    1. Hi Val, Yes, it is one of favourite weeks at my church, the week of Solemn Assembly. They have been doing it for 6 years and I’ve just missed once. Let’s both have an uncomplicated year! Blessings! xo
