Each post this month of April will be a Devotional on the security we have in God. My hope is that God will use these words to encourage you on your daily paths.

My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6
The enclosing canyon walls rise high, grey and daunting under a wintery day’s overcast sky. From an observer above it may seem like an impassable fortress, it’s iced floors too slick to journey. Then a group of hikers are spotted, roaming the narrow gorge, ice cleated boots securing each sturdy step they take.

When you’re in a place and see only an intimidating landscape with a path that seems insurmountable, you must not stay discouraged. God has promised He will give you what you need to secure each step you take and be your hope and strength as you navigate difficult terrain. When you wait on God, He will direct your way through the ravines as you pass over the landscape. When you hold onto God, He will steady you so you will not be shaken, will not fall on the uneven patches along the way. No matter the challenge, do not fear. He is your rock and salvation, your encourager and protector, always with you every step of the way.
I’m linked up today with the Fierce-Hearted Women at Holly Gerth and at also Recharge Wednesday with Patricia Holbrook.
This was very encouraging, Lynn. It makes me think of our world leaders and how they have to prevail, but it is true of us in ordinary life too.
“God has promised He will give you what you need…”

Our world leaders do need to prevail and we are instructed to pray for them too, aren’t we? Have blessed week knowing God’s promise that He gives us everything we need, Sandi.

Dear Lynn, thank you so much for these words. As I look ahead to my husband’s upcoming knee replacement surgery, it feels like those huge cliffs to me! I don’t know how we will get through it all. But thank the Lord, HE does know how, and He will keep our feet from slipping (literally!) I needed this encouragement tonight so much! Blessings to you!

I’ll be praying for you husband and you too, Bettie, that during that time he secures both your steps literally and figuratively! When is the surgery? And for a suburb recovery!

Thank you so much, Lynn! His surgery is scheduled for 2 weeks from today, April 19. I am currently in between RA meds, so my dependency on the Lord has become even deeper. He is our security, and our shelter!

Beautiful pictures and post Lynn. I can look back at so many valleys and see how I’ve grown closer and closer to Him. Could not work through those valleys without Him.

Thank you so much for taking the time to remind me that, “When you wait on God, He will direct your way through the ravines as you pass over the landscape.” At times, I get so anxious and lean on my own understanding. This passage has reminded me that JESUS is in control and I need to wait.

Thank you Karen! Those photos were taken in 2009 but seemed so fitting for this post. It was one of those days where God just opened up incredible photo ops that He knew would come in play to spread His word even if years later! Have a great weekend too!

Lynn, you just don’t know how perfect the timing of reading your post is for me. We came back from vacation (with my husband having torn his ACL and Meniscus right before) to my mom being in the hospital. It’s been a long week and she has had a small stroke, and what’s most concerning is that she had two strokes in both eye’s optic nerves which left her near blind.
This was just what I needed and I will be reading this to her as well.
Thank you for allowing God to work through your beautiful gift of words to reach our hearts, my beloved sister.

Wow, Chris, that’s a lot of rough terrain to be navigating! I’m glad God’s timing encouraged you with His words here today, that He’s with us each step. I’ll be praying for your family!

Dear Lynn J. Simpson
I believe this is my first time on this blog, but I’ll not be my last 🙂
You have some great content here with beautiful images.
I was encouraged by reading about the security we have in God here in this particular blog post, and I’m looking forward to reading your upcoming blog post content.
My favourite sentence in this blog post was:
“God has promised He will give you what you need to secure each step you take and be your hope and strength as you navigate difficult terrain.”
On my way to Twitter for a share of this . . .
God bless!

The ancient Israelites focused on the size of their circumstances instead of on their mighty God, who delivered them from Egypt. When we keep our eyes on Him, our problems shrink in comparison. I’m linking to this post in May. Thanks, Lynn!

Yes, that is so true Susan. God wants us to keep our eyes on Him because He wants us to experience peace, not anxiousness and worry in our problems. Thanks for sharing His message through your words and blog too!
