Delight

So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. 1 Peter 5:7

Days can be full of plans unraveling, work pressures building, and expectations unfulfilled leaving you feeling unworthy, unaccomplished, and disappointed.

But God delights in you regardless if your check list is complete, or you didn’t meet a deadline, or you were unable to keep a commitment.

Hold on to your plans loosely.

For your well-being to God is more important than your to-do list.

What is one thing you can do today that shows He delights in you just ’cause you are you?

The Lord your God …will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

  1. Good reminder Lynn!
Amy Carroll in her book Breaking Up with Perfect said, “The lie of perfection is that my list defines me. The truth of God’s love says my list distances me from God and people.”
Dear God please help me to put people ahead of paper work today. In Jesus’ name I pray. (-: Kerry

  2. I am dwelling on that last portion of the Scripture you shared, “God is most careful with you.” He is showing me some very specific things today, that I had not seen before, of how He really was so careful with me! Thank you for sharing!

    1. And that’s perfectly okay, to have an check list incomplete! Mine rarely is, or I tend to erase and just put the items on other days. I’m thankful for pencils! Have a wonderful weekend Diane!

  3. I love that version of 1 Peter 5:7!
And I’m sure He delighted in me today as I wrestled a big easy chair through doorways, moving it from one room to another. It must have been comical to watch.

  4. Hold our plan loosely…cannot tell how much this speaks to my heart. Living in a third world country if you are not flexible you won’t last. Anytime we live outside our comfort zone for a long period of time the flexibility wheels begin to grind on each other due to much wear. So often we cannot change our circumstance, only ourselves. The Word and prayer is the grease for our flexibility wheels. Only wish I say I have this under control but I cannot lie, I just lost it with my husband last night and we are living now in a first world country. So the country does not matter, the only things that matters is our hearts. Good post Lynn.

  5. “Hold on to your plans loosely”. Amen! 💕 — “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand”. Proverbs 19:21 Just learning to rest in who He created us to be, brings Him glory.🍃

  6. A really beautiful word & just what I need to remember. I can become so frustrated by the slowness of my body & mind. I’m going to hang on to – ‘For your well-being to God is more important than your to-do list’. Thank you.💖
