A Breath of Wind

“So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’—out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.” John 3:7-8 The Message

Take a breath and meditate on the passage above as you watch & listen to the wind rustling through the trees. (best in HD and fullscreen).

  1. Your place here truly is a space to breathe, Lynn. The sounds of the wind rustling through the trees sent a calmness into my anxiety. And the photos always refresh my heart. 🙂 You have also confirmed to me that I need to put less pressure on myself to write. That I have not failed if I’m at a loss for words. I’ve noticed how God often uses nature photos and His Word or few words to bless me. Thank you! Love and blessings!

    1. I’m glad this place provided you with a calm breathing space, Trudy! May you continue to hear what God wants for you, whether that is to write beyond His words or to just take in His words. My very first devotional had only scripture, was a gift, and the giver explained how she wanted to give me something that was God’s word only. Although I appreciate stories around scripture, and write them myself, there is also a place for His words with no other fillers. May you have many more calm and peaceful moments this week!

  2. So beautiful Lynn! That wind expresses so well how my spirit is feeling today, so churned up! What a gift to remember that HIS Spirit is blowing through my own heart, and His awesome power can handle anything that might come my way!

  4. Lynn, this is a lovely post. I love the ocean breezes in the mornings, or on a warm afternoon. The sound of the wind bustling through trees in the mountains always leaves me with a sense of peace. And listening to blizzard tossed gales makes me thankful to be indoors. The wind always makes me feel. Maybw that’s why I’m reminded of God’s power when I see, hear, or feel it. 😁

  5. Ah, such a peaceful sound to listen to as I thought about that verse. The Holy Spirit is our guide, our comforter and our wind that will lead us every day, and I need to remember to allow Him to do His work in me and try not to control the direction I go. So often, I stunt His power in my own agenda! Thank you for this insightful reflection today, Lynn. SO important!

    1. Oh yes, our own agendas. Our own definitions of success, of worthiness even. It can make life so much harder than just leaning in letting go, can’t it! I have a wonderful weekend knowing His Holy presence, Christine!
