Soaking in our natural world and experiencing the unique beauty of the natural areas in our neighbourhoods, our national parks, and our own backyards can increase our creativity and overall mental health.

I like to consider our natural environment as vitamins for our mind, body, and soul. In other words, a nurturing breath.

Whenever I look at a natural water feature photograph I took, all my senses engage. I remember hearing the rushing river waters ; smelling the pine trees on the adjacent path; seeing the lake’s sparkling sun reflections; tasting cold, pure water splashing on rocks; and feeling the chilled mountain air on my exposed skin.

  1. Oh Lynn, thank you for all these awesome nature photos that celebrate our Awesome Creator! They are always “a nurturing breath” to my soul! As a child, I loved to imagine myself into a nature painting on our living room wall. It would calm my anxious spirit. I still do that, and I subscribe to various nature sites. It’s so soothing to breathe in the wonders of God’s creation. Thank you for encouraging my heart today and reminding me that He who created all this also has the power to work wonders in our world, our lives, and the lives of those we love. Love and blessings to you!

  2. Your photos are stunning, Lynn. You truly are gifted in capturing beauty. The quote is a powerful one and so true – “nature speaks with the voice of God.” It brings an awareness of our God that brings Him close.

  3. I feel myself relax, breathe deep, and smile when I sit with you and your artwork, Lynn. Thanks for ministering to our sometimes ragged souls. He speaks peace through your photography and carefully spoken words, friend.

  4. Lynn, you have described why I love nature photography! Finding those landscapes or types of nature that move me opens up my lungs and heart to breathe deep. I love your suggestions. And your photos are, as always, spectacular!
